SEATTLE — December was a superb month for the USC basketball workforce.
Boogie Ellis scored 27 factors and USC earned its seventh straight victory, holding off Washington late for an 80-67 victory Friday evening to finish an undefeated December.
Ellis scored 16 factors within the last 10 minutes of the second half, responding to a run that gave Washington a three-point lead. Ellis’ level complete matched his output in an 82-76 win over BYU in November and was one level shy of his season-best 28 in a 74-71 win over No. 19 Auburn on Dec. 18.
The Trojans (11-3 total, 3-0 Pac-12) went 6-0 in December, together with three straight in open convention play.
Washington trailed by 7 at halftime, however shortly erased that deficit within the second half. Freshman Keion Manifield scored on a pair of layups and Cole Bajema hit the primary of his 4 3s to tug inside one, 42-41, with three minutes left within the half.
The Huskies then used a 10-0 run, fueled by a pair of 3-pointers by Bajema and a pair of baskets by Manifield, to take a 58-55 lead with 10:28 left within the sport. However Ellis responded by scoring 9 factors in an 11-0 run that put the Trojans again in entrance, 66-58.
Ellis completed 10-for-19 from the sector, together with 4-for-8 from 3-point vary, and 3-for-3 from the road, including seven rebounds, two assists and three steals. Drew Peterson added 17 factors and Tre White had 12 factors and eight boards.
Keyon Brooks led the Huskies (9-5, 1-2) with 22 factors and 7 rebounds. Manifield scored 18 factors and Bajema went 4-for-9 from the arc for 12 factors.
